Article 16: Removal of Dirt (Original LUR Text)
The digging of dirt or the removal of any dirt from any lot is expressly prohibited except as necessary in conjunction with the landscaping or construction being performed on such lot.
What It Means (Plain-Language Interpretation)
You cannot dig large holes, trenches, borrow pits, or remove soil from your lot unless it is part of legitimate home construction, driveway construction, drainage, or landscaping. You cannot haul dirt off your property for resale or disposal unless it is part of approved construction work. Prevents turning a residential lot into a dirt mine or dumping location.
How This Affects Us
Protects neighbors from unsightly pits or unsafe drop-offs.Prevents: soil erosion, standing water, drainage disruption, and breeding ponds. Ensures any land shaping is tied to actual improvements—not arbitrary or commercial dirt removal. Limits liability for the community since deep excavations could be dangerous near taxiways, roads, or utility lines.
Why This Matters to Us
Keeping this rule clear and unchanged helps future consolidation of LURs.Prevents people from creating ponds, pits, or commercial dirt truck operations without a proper construction purpose.
