Article 7: Prohibition of Offensive Activities (Original LUR Text)
No activity, whether for profit or not, shall be carried on any lot which is not related to single family residential purposes. No noxious or offensive activity of any sort shall be permitted nor shall anything be done on any lot which may be or become an annoyance or a nuisance to the neighborhood. However, the operation of airplanes in, on and about the subdivision is planned upon and shall not be construed as an offensive activity so long as no aerobatics, low flying or stunt flying takes place over the subdivision.
What It Means (Plain-Language Interpretation)
This restriction bans any kind of business or activity on your property unless it's strictly related to normal single-family residential living. It also prohibits any actions or behaviors that might bother neighbors, such as loud noise, strong odors, or disruptive conduct. That said, flying airplanes in and out of the subdivision is allowed—as long as it’s done safely and respectfully (no tricks, buzz-bys, or unsafe maneuvers over homes).
How This Affects Us
This article protects the peaceful, residential nature of our community. It means neighbors can expect a quiet environment free from commercial or disruptive activity. However, it also clarifies that airplane operations—central to the identity of Sports Flyer's Estates—are allowed. As long as pilots fly responsibly, they are within their rights.
Why This Matters to Us
Preserving residential quality of life is key to maintaining property values and harmony among neighbors. This article draws a clear boundary: no businesses or disruptive activities are allowed, but aviation is welcome within safe and respectful limits. It gives homeowners confidence that the unique aviation aspect of our neighborhood is protected, while ensuring peace and quiet remain a priority.
